College Celebrates its International Global Mix

City College Norwich will be celebrating the cultures of its international students next week with four days of events for its International Global Mix.  The vibrant programme of activities will highlight the rich cultural diversity of City College Norwich, which has students from around 100 different nationalities represented among its student body.

Organised by the Students’ Union and the College’s Enrichment Team, the International Global Mix is open to all students and will bring to life the wide variety of cultures at the College through music, dance, film, workshops, sport and other activities.

The programme of events will give students the opportunity to enjoy watching modern Bollywood films, hear a selection of blues and reggae music performed by the acoustic duo 2 Long Roads and sample some of the culinary delights of international dishes they may not have sampled before.  These will include African Caribbean dishes made by Norwich’s new African Caribbean restaurant, Big Mama’s House, and various other international foods, such as paella and naan breads, which will be specially cooked by students from the College’s Hotel School.

On Monday afternoon the College's Sports Hall will be the venue for a mini-World Cup tournament, with 11 different teams taking part, each representing a different country of their choice.  Students from the UEA, with whom City College Norwich has close links, will also be supporting the festivities.  Volunteers from the UEA volunteer student group Global Voices will be running a variety of workshops for students at the College, spanning Vietnamese culture, Chinese calligraphy and art, and Indian crafts and dance.
