Sport England funding boost for college sports

Students at City College Norwich can look forward to enhanced opportunities to get involved in sport thanks to £70,000 of National Lottery investment from Sport England’s Further Education Activation Fund.

The college is one of 62 projects at further education and sixth form colleges across England to benefit from £4m of funding to help get 59,000 new students playing sport.

Enrolment for further education students takes place from Wednesday 20th to Friday 29th August. 

You could be entitled to free meals at college

With effect from September 2014, you will be eligible for free meals at college if you are aged 16-18 (or 19-25 and have a Learning Difficulty Assessment or Education Health & Care Plan), are studying on a further education course and you/your parents are in receipt of:

Media Foundation Diploma offers unique production company experience

It is not too late to apply for City College Norwich’s ground-breaking Media Foundation Diploma, delivered in partnership with Eye Film and Television, which provides a unique opportunity to develop your skills within our media learning company.

Your day-to-day experiences within the innovative learning company will revolve around all aspects of media production, working on live briefs for real clients.

After the amazing teams at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, Addenbrooke’s Hospital and the Queen Elisabeth Hospital saved the life of her sons, Liam and Jacob, Gabrielle Barker, a member of the Curriculum Services team at City College Norwich, is auctioning a pair of football boots signed by Hull City and Scotland winger Robert Snodgrass.

Student photography on show at Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital

Work by 1st and 2nd year Extended Diploma Photography students has gone on show at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital (NNUH), with a dual exhibition running until September.

The students’ exhibitions are being displayed on Level 2 of the main hospital building, providing a varied selection of work for the hospital’s users to enjoy.

The 1st year students’ exhibition is inspired by the theme of sound, responding to a brief set by Emma Jarvis, Hospital Arts Co-ordinator at the NNUH.

Engineering students learn about career opportunities with ATB Laurence Scott

City College Norwich students have visited ATB Laurence Scott to learn more about the activities of the firm, and the potential career opportunities available to them.

The Mechanical Engineering students from School 2 were given a guided tour of the engineering facilities by Paul Gibbins, Machine Shop Manager, and Roger Townsend, Senior Winding Shop Manager.

New Business with Property Services course offers route into property professions

College students will have the chance to undertake a new model of learning for careers in the property profession, thanks to a new course at City College Norwich starting this September. 

The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Business with Property Services is being launched in partnership with Arnolds Keys and Rightmove, with the support of the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) and the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA).

Residential Property Management Practice evening course

A chance for employees aged 19 and over to study towards the NFoPP Awarding Body Level 2 Award in Introduction to Residential Property Management Practice.

Funded training opportunity starting September 2014:

This is an introductory qualification ideal for anyone wanting to gain basic knowledge in the key areas related to residential letting and property management.  It is suitable for those who are new to the profession and have little previous experience as well as those who are more experienced.

Successful Bid Writing - 22nd July 2014

Bid writing is a key skill on which many organisations rely for their future funding and survival. With support from the European Social Fund and ACER, City College Norwich is delighted to offer this free* course on 22nd July.

For many organisations, external funding has become a necessity rather than a choice but to develop and submit an application takes planning and resources.  Without guidance, these resources can be wasted and income opportunities lost.
