Entry Requirements:
Level 1 Wood Occupations Craft Diploma plus either 2 GCSEs at Grade D or above in Maths and English or Level 1 Application of Number and Communications.
Career Progression:
Many of our students move into employment and gain the NVQ2 on a construction site or in a workshop, needing only portfolio building sessions to ensure that they have covered all the criteria required by the NVQ awarding body.

We offer a choice of three routes - Site Carpentry, Bench Joinery and Machine Woodworking
The course consists of units - 3 core units and other units that are trade specific

- Information, quantities and communication with others 2
- Construction technology 2
Site Carpentry
Trade Specific Units
- First fixing operations
- Second fixing
- Erecting structural carcassing
- Carrying out maintainance
- Setting up and operating a circular course
Bench Joinery
Trade Specific Units
- Setting up and operating a circular saw
- Produce setting out details for routine joinery products
- Mark out from setting out details for routine joinery products
- Manufacture routine joinery products
Machine Woodworking
Trade Specific Units
- Produce jointed wood and wood-based products
- Produce planed wood and wood-based products
- Produce profiled wood and wood-based products
- Produce sawn wood and wood-based products
- Produce and maintain woodmachining tooling.
