Vehicle Body & Paint Operations IMI Certificate

Summary: 

This course is aimed at learners who have achieved good GCSE results, or hold a level 1 award 
and wish to prepare themselves for a career in the Body Repair Industry by
studying full time at the college.

Entry Requirements: 

This course has a minimum entry level of  at least grades D in English, Mathematics and a Science based subject.
or a Level 1 award in a relevent subject.  Successful completion of a satisfactory interview.

Core Skills: 

The course includes elements of health & safety, general housekeeping and industry
standard body repair techniques.  Key skills will also be delivered at the appropriate level.

Assessment: 

Practical skills will be tested by a series of tasks within the college workshop.
Theory knowledge will be tested by a series of on-line multiple-choice question papers
which are externally set by the awarding body.

Academic Progression: 

Progression would be onto a Level 3 programme. Although Level 3 is not
currently oferred by the College, reviews on this matter take place at
regular intervals.

Career Progression: 

The IMI Level 2 Award will help learners progress onto a modern apprentiship programme.

Full Description: 

IMI Level 2 Body Repair.
The course has an option of either body panel repair or paint application (refinishing).
In both areas, learners will restore damaged vehicles or panels back to original shape and finsh.
Repairs are carried out to Industry standard using the large range of equipment found in the college body workshop.
