Course Description:
The Young Apprenticeship (YA) programme is a challenging and exciting opportunity for able, wellmotivated 14-16 year old students with a passion to develop their understanding and skills in a sector in which they have a genuine interest or career aspiration. The course will give you a Sports BTEC First Diploma (equivalent to four GCSEs at grades A*-C), and 50 days of work-related learning, giving you a head start in the sector. If you are interested in developing your skills and knowledge in the sports and leisure industry (sport, recreation, health and fitness, the outdoors and sports education and training) then this course may be right for you. This YA provides a unique insight into the sport and leisure industry. The projects and assignments you will undertake are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands, and are designed to develop your skills and understanding of the sport and leisure sector. You will also come into contact with new people and learning environments, and will gain invaluable experience to help you think about life after school. The Sports Leadership YA will be delivered by City College Norwich with Easton College on their site. Real work experience – personalised to each student’s aspirations and interests – is integrated into the programme. You will be assessed by a variety of assessment methods, including case studies, assignments, practical assessments and projects.
