The Society, Health and Development Higher Diploma is an ideal course for you if you are interested in society, health and development and you would like to explore your opportunities within these important sectors.
The Higher Diploma develops your understanding of the core subjects covering health, social care, the children’s workforce and community justice. You will learn about the values and principles of different organisations and how these are applied in everyday work. You will get experience in partnership working and look at different ways of communicating with the community.
The Diploma will help you learn the personal skills that are important to work successfully in these areas, such as team working, problem solving and good communication skills. You will get the chance to learn in different settings, work with your fellow students and meet employers and specialists in your field of interest. During the course, you will also be able to do at least ten days’ work experience, which is a great way to apply what you have learnt in a working environment.
Three GCSEs at grades A*-D in English, Maths and a subject related to society, health and development.
The Higher Diploma is designed to keep your options open. It is worth seven GCSEs at grades A*-C. It could lead to the Society, Health and Development Advanced Diploma, one of the other Advanced Diplomas available, another Level three course at the college or an Apprenticeship with an employer.
During the programme you will also find out about a wide range of careers available within the society, health and development sectors to help you plan for the future.
