Health and Social Care BTEC Introductory Diploma

Summary: 

This course is for you if you want to take a first step towards a career in Health and Social Care.  You will need to show that you have the maturity and enthusiasm to work with people who have a variety of needs.  You will gain a BTEC Introductory Diploma in Health & Social Care Level 1, which is equal to 4 GCSEs grades D-G.  This programme gives you the opportunity to prepare for the world of work, and will provide you with a foundation for further study at College, or with an employer. 

Course Length: 
One Year - 3 days
Entry Requirements: 

Two GCSEs E-G.  (You may be considered without these entry requirements if you would benefit from this programme.)

Successful students can apply to go on to the Level 2 First Diploma in Health and Social Care.

Full Description: 

The programme will offer you the chance to follow a course of study, usually for 3 days a week, that will help you to learn through practical skills and work-related activities using College facilities.

You will learn about:

  • The different jobs that are available in health and social care
  • The practical skills you need to for care work
  • Your own skills and how they can be applied to a job
  • Looking after children

You will also have the opportunity to visit local care homes and play groups.
