The hair and beauty industry is worth over £6 billion to the UK economy and is growing. It is a dynamic and creative sector with a wide variety of career opportunities, for instance in salons, film, television, fashion and enterprise.
Almost half of the people working in the sector are self employed, making it one of the most entrepreneurial industries in the country and many of the sector professionals are keen to advance their skills through continued development.
Becoming part of the City College Norwich community will enable you to join this exciting, glamorous and fast moving sector.
Course Length:1 Year
Minimum of 2 GCSE grade E in English and Maths or equivalent qualifications. Applicants should be able to demonstrate commitment, motivation and enthusiasm to succeed on the course.
This course is designed to give you the best start to launch a career in be Hairdressing. Units include shampooing, creative syling and reception work.
The course is assessed both practically and by written assignments. Evidence from these will go towards building a portfolio of evidence.
Students will also be expected to undertake research for work to be completed in class.
VRQ level 2 Hairdressing is the natural progression from this course and takes another year of full time study. Students must have successfully completed VRQ level 1 Hairdressing.
Another interview and a successful trade test will take place before progression onto level 2.
