Course Description:
The Engineering Foundation Diploma is an ideal course for you if you are interested in engineering and would like an introduction to this innovation-led industry.
Engineering plays a big part in creating and developing the modern world we live in. New ideas and innovations are at the heart of this exciting sector and its many industries, which include mechanics, electronics, telecommunications, biomedicine, automotive and aerospace.
The Foundation Diploma will introduce you to the engineering world and how it shapes the way we live. You will learn about basic engineering principles, design and materials, and how to produce simple engineering drawings.
You will also look at how to develop new ideas and concepts for the future, such as the impact of recycling.
Throughout the Diploma, you will get lots of practical experience, with the chance to complete a student project and work in teams with your fellow students. You will also be able to do at least ten days’ work experience, which is a great way to apply what you have learnt in a working environment

Academic Progression:
This Diploma is designed to keep your options open. It could lead to the Engineering Higher Diploma, one of the other Higher Diplomas available, another Level two course at the College or an apprenticeship with an employer. The programme also allows you to find out about the wide range of jobs and careers available within the engineering industry.
