This programme offers a great starting point for a career in dance. The course is for dancers who do not have much technical dance experience but are enthusiastic to get better.
On the First Diploma in Dance, you will study Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Musical Theatre. You will also build your writing and reading skills through theory classes.
Entry Requirements:
* Four GCSEs at Grades A-G (including English)
* One-day workshop/audition where you will be asked to present a solo dance performance
Academic Progression:
After successfully completing this course you could progress onto the full time two year BTEC National Extended Diploma programme in one of the four pathways of Acting, Dance, Musical Theatre or Music Practice.
Full Description:
You will be taught by friendly and professional tutors, who have a wide range of experience in the dance industry and you will be given plenty of performance opportunities.
Annual trips are organised for students. Past trips have included New York, Italy, Paris and London. Termly outings include a range of theatre shows, professional workshops and workplace related performance activities.
Our state of the art facilities include three purpose built dance studios located in the city centre. Each studio is mirrored with a sprung floor, air conditioning and P.A system. Our 200 seated theatre has an excellent lighting and sound system and rehearsal space.
This programme offers an ideal starting point for a career in dance before starting the BTEC National Extended Diploma.
