Summary: 

 

This programme aims to develop creative practice within the Fashion discipline and equip Learners with a broad range of technical skills together with aesthetic and commercial awareness. Learners’ will be introduced to the basic, but essential aspects of industrial practices, fashion illustration, pattern cutting and garment construction. This is complimented with visual recording and fabric manipulation techniques.
 
The project-based programme offers strong tutorial support which empowers students to make informed choices about career pathways while building self-initiative, motivation and drive.

In addition to study in College, students will be expected to undertake a minimum of six hours homework each week.
Entry Requirements: 

 

A good portfolio, plus one of the following:

  • BTEC First Diploma with 2 merits or distinctions
  • An equivalent qualification or experience
  • 4 GCSE’s grade C and above, one of which must be English Language
Assessment: 

Assessment is continuous and is course work based

Diplomates have the opportunity to progress to a degree course, or obtain employment directly into the Fashion, Fashion related industry or self employment. The learner will be equipped with transferable skills which can be applied to other types of employment and provide the basis for further study or career changes.

Enrichment
Throughout the course Learner’s will have the opportunity to show their work in the annual ‘Norwich Fashion Week’ show, and a Fashion and Performing Arts event. They will also have the opportunity to show work in a live selling exhibition and also in the end of year Creative Arts show.
Visiting lecturers, designers and artists come to the college and provide an opportunity for the students to enquire about their chosen area of study.
 

Costs: 

 

All students will need to provide their own basic kit of equipment as well as being All students will be required to pay a fee of £100 towards the costs of materials provided by College and compulsory research trips. The purchase of materials for specific projects may also be necessary.
