This course is for candidates who wish to pursue a career in the construction industry as an advanced bricklayer but who have limited (or no) site experience.
You should have already completed the Level 2 Craft Diploma in Bricklaying or be prepared to complete this qualification within the Advanced Craft Diploma programme.
Assessment will involve you completing assignments and end of unit questions for the job knowledge requirement and practical assessment models for the practical competence requirements of the programme.
A course designed to act as a bridge between craft and professional studies is available and gives you the opportunity to then progress to the Edexcel National Certificate or Diploma in either Construction or Civil Engineering. Alternatively, you may wish to study for the Certificate and Diploma in Site Management.
Trade foreman, Assistant site agent etc.
The programme covers the following areas of the trade: fireplaces and flues, curved walling (vertical and horizontal), axed bullseye, battering walls, decorative string courses. Candidates are required to demonstrate the more decorative skills of the trade and to justify the methods used. The job knowledge requirement of the programme leans strongly toward the management techniques of supervising operatives within the trade area.
